Description

This item is for Trainz: A New Era ONLY. TS19 Version is also now provided as of 9/11/23

The Dry Brook and Esopus Valley is a fictional railroad heavily inspired by the beauty of the Catskill Mountains in New York and the romance of the Ulster and Delaware railroad that graced it’s grades.

The route takes place in the early 1990’s after a group of rail enthusiasts successfully lobbied Conrail to reactivate the line for freight and limited tourist excursions following 15 years of abandonment by Penn Central. Much of the trackage had fallen into disrepair and much of it remains out of service or abandoned all together. But following years of refurbishment, the Dry Brook and Esopus Valley was in service as an official short line.

Beginning in downtown Esopus, this 15 mile branch line passes through busy streets, farms, countryside and challenging mountain grades, before terminating at a major washout. Industries include, scrap, lumber, candy, general goods, grain and gravel. Successfully bringing a loaded gravel train down the 2.5% grade into the Esopus Valley will challenge even the best engineer. There’s even a limited tourist excursion into the mountains (Available at K&L Trainz).

Fantastic route, the rolling stock and the scenery are perfect, the attention to detail is incredible. I recommend watching the K&L trainz video on the history of the line, really adds to the immersion.

I however have an asset that comes up as faulty / incompatible (ATLS Lights USA DD TRS2019) but this doesnt impact the gameplay at all.

This is a great route. I’ve been keeping up with the build series since the beginning and have seen it go from nothing to this amazing route. It’s got plenty to do: switching, locals, and passenger (with the optional K&L Trainz locomotive). I am looking forward to whatever Approach Medium does in the future.

  3. Brian (verified owner)

Wonderful route! It portrays the northeast US very well.

  4. Mkultra (verified owner)

Absolutely beautiful route 10/10. Missing some crossings for some reason however.

Great map but I can’t find the dependencies, could you please list them. Other than that the map is very cool.

The Dry Brook & Esopus Valley RR is a really nice route with tons of details and regional atmosphere throughout. The grades will give the most seasoned players a real challenge in cab mode and there is plenty to see and do along the route. I strongly recommend this Route along with the K&L Trainz Steam Excursion Train add-on pack. A person could lose hours just exploring the well detailed city and country landscapes that surround the railroad line. If you are on the fence about this route and like branchline/ shortline railroading it’s a good buy!

Great route and a must-buy for any and all short line enthusiasts!! This reminds me of my childhood in New England and the Conway Scenic Rail line. The only issue that I have had so far is the Traffic lights not lighting up as the train crosses (however this maybe because I am playing it on Trainz 2019). However, as previously stated this does not affect the gameplay (as the cars still stop for the train). Approach Medium has done an amazing job with the detail here and I can’t wait to see what he has planned for the future!!

Love this route but seems to have a problem with trainz 2019. Very good work from JR yet again!!

  9. Ed McNally (verified owner)

As always great work by medium approach. I have Trainz19 ands it works great in it. You just have to change out one of the drivers.

Absolutely beautiful. The way the gritty, dirty urban environment transforms into lush, green farmlands is plain awesome. The locomotives and rolling stock are great, too. Highly Recommended.

Hello! I am missing more than HALF of the total train track and i used all my b-day money on this.
I am very disappointed and feel cheated. Let me know if you will fix this route and make my purchase worth it. Otherwise, this route is good.

  12. Estolcles (verified owner)

This purchase is so worth it. Hours upon hours upon hours of playtime. Between just running freight back and forth, or trying to run regular freight service while keeping the excursions running on their own schedule (thanks to KLTrainz DBEV Excursion set).

And to add to all this? The engines actually have ARN, and the SW1500 works as a really decent looking used loco for any other route (in addition to DBEV, obviously).

Yet another “Must Buy” route from Jointed Rail.

  13. Turky44 (verified owner)

    Utterly Fantastic Route

  14. trainman062405 (verified owner)

Amazing route. I haven’t bought the DBEV Excursion train yet, but i am doing it soon! Great work.

  15. GabeW (verified owner)

Amazing branch line especially with the K&L Trainz tourist pack, however the Tb nature (trees and grass) files are faulty and don’t appear on the map. Does anyone have the files?
I can’t find them on the download station

Nice route with lots of details. Running in T:ANE and there are no missing dependences, very worth to buy.

  17. KCS777 (verified owner)

FOUR BECAUSE THE LOCOMOTIVES AND SOME OF THE TRACK BRIDGES AND SCENERY AND PAINT AND ALSO CROSSING DONT WORK AND THE DONT HAVE ANY LIGHTS POLES CROSSING SIGNS AND CROSSBUCKS!
