Awesome model, would be even cooler if there was a gecko script to allow the later 1970s + paint with the “SP” on the short hood and the drop steps and cab windows were animated.

These are cool locomotives. An SD45 with those nice flared radiator grills but with a steam heater added on to the rear for passenger train heating. The details are all here on this model including the handbrake wheel relocated to the front in a recess on the short hood, nicely modelled trucks some cable detailing visible under the frame working fans etc.
Being SP there are both red and white oscillating lights as well as class lights, number board lights, walkway lights and internal cab lights. The red (MARS?) light activates automatically if you put the brake into emergency and the top white cab lights flash (rotate?) when the train is in forward motion.
The cab doors can be opened via the menu and the windows from inside the cab. Strangely the doors don’t appear open when viewed from within and the windows don’t show as open when viewed from without. Visors are also adjustable.
Externally both of these locos look really nice with the “bloody nose” version being a little more weathered. The cab interior is acceptable though not as fancy as the latest (and more expensive) models but the control stand is nice with clear well modelled instrumentation and controls.
Initially I could get no horn or bell sound from either unit so I submitted a ticket to Jointed Rail and they dealt with it promptly sending me a new file to replace the corrupted one which when installed fixed the problem.
These engines look and sound good and run well. Also appreciate the good support. Thanks to all at JR.

As an avid SP fan, I can say this model is top-notch, even for being an older model.
Comes with a custom cab with openable windows, though they are not animated on the outside. The horn is good and suits SP engines from the 60’s to the 80’s. The engine sound is also good, but I found it would be better to switch it with the newer 20-645E3 used on the SD45T-2’s. Also has a gyralight and mars light that comes on when emergency braking. Overall a good model. Thanks JR 😀
