In the modern world of railroading, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe sees a large majority of traffic of Intermodal trains that cross the Western and Mid-Western United States constantly working as part of a new era of railroading. BNSF’s answer to the increase in Intermodal traffic was the constant ordering of GE Evolution Series locomotives. Although the ES44DC is now behind compared to the new ES44C4s, the ES44DCs still run in heavy numbers on BNSFs mainlines, many show age, and that is what this product does. It provides Trainz users with the ES44DC of today, one of years of service – a unit that has mileage. The price is grand, coming in at just $10 (as of November 21st, 2013), you get 3 for the price of 1, a great value. The quality is somewhat lagging compared to JR’s newest offerings as these are reskins of the original ES44DCs, so the cab interior is not custom and the scripts are a little under featured, but they still look amazing and have the minimum of scripting required. Overall, I am happy I purchased these units. I use them often on my modern routes as they have become the flagship icon of BNSF today, as the Genesis units are for Amtrak.

I’d give this six or more stars if i could!!!!!! I don’t even like BNSF or GEs!
This product is AMAZING! I would HIGHLY recommend it! And to top THAT off, the customer service is insane! You write your problem, and they get back to you in less than five minutes? Amazing! ALL of JR’s stuff, free and pay has been worth the money. I would recommend some of the newer things, too. Like the C44-9Ws, and the SD70Ms, and C40-8s! Take those F-units for a spin, too! Or the SD40-2s! The possibilities are endless!!!! Go Jointed Rail!

JR’s level of “Mediocre” has always been better then anyone elses anyway…. However, Id have to agree with everything the other poster said. These would be INCREDIBLE models with just a step further into the realm of their usual excellence. However, without the custom Cab in particular, I feel like these models were just built to be “Fill Units” behind the locomotive of your choice. Something you grabbed off the Extra Power Track before leaving the yard or the Helper Track before the grade, which is too bad because units almost identical to these are in use all over their system….

Still, as I said, they’re better then anyone elses to date, and these see alot of use comparatively when I run BNSF anywhere.

Okay, maybe these are not ‘perfect’ models but they look great and you can’t beat the price. One more thing! You get nice variety with this 3 pack.

I’m really enjoying these units I played around with last night. Stayed up far too late as a result checking out JR content I purchased. I digress, I love how these three units show more age than other content you see; which is usually picture-perfect. Well these are too but in a more real world way. It’s definitely well worth it with the value of the three-pack!

Beautiful GEVOs pack..i am really enjoying it

I give it 4 stars only because of the lack of a custom cab. Give this locomotive one of Jointed Rail’s great custom cabs and your all set! Loco runs great and looks good to.

Great units, I wish they had no flashing ditchlights. One thing I would have expected was a custom cab but was left empty handed without one. Regardless beautiful GEVOS!

These locomotives are great! Beautiful models and realistic looks! The one thing everyone is waiting for is a custom cab but other than that, these are 5 star units!

I decided to buy this BNSF GEVO 3 pack instead of the regular BNSF GEVO that is on this site, just because I think these locomotives look better in terms of textures based off of the screenshots of the individual products shown off on this site, and I have to say that these GEVO’s are probably the best looking ones on this site. Unfortunately, I have problems with these locomotive (not just the BNSF locomotives, but all of the GEVO’s on this site).

The most prominent problem that I have (with all of the Gevos, not just this one) is there is no custom cab. Everyone who has bought a GEVO on this site has complained that there is no custom cab so I won’t go too into depth on why this is a problem. Thankfully, there are GEVO cabs on the DLS that were made by Davesnow that I decided to use for these locomotive, so it wasn’t that big of an issue.

Another problem that I do have is that for whatever reason, the enginesound that comes with these locomotives isn’t accurate. Apart from the idle 1 sound, the rest of the sound files use the same exact sounds that are on the early 7FDL sounds you hear on the C30-7 and B40-8W units on this site. I’m really hoping that this was a developer insight, since the only time the enginesound sounds accurate to a GEVO is when it’s in idle. Again though, like the custom cab problem, I was able to find an accurate sounding Gevo engine sound, not that much of a problem.

The final problem that I have which is kind of a nitpick is the ditchlights. In real life the gevos (apart from CSX and I believe Norfolk Southern) don’t use flashing ditchlights.

I’m aware that these were made when Trainz 2009 was around, so I’m just hoping that there will be some form of “legacy update” where they end up updating the locomotives and the assets, which include a custom cab, and maybe a better enginesound. Other than that, these Gevo’s are pretty great. As someone who uses TRS2019 and takes advantage of the graphical capabilities, they do still look pretty good in this game, and I would reccomend buying these locomotives…just be sure to download Davesnow’s gevo cab interiors and Kevin the Train Hunter’s GEVO enginesound.
