The detailing on this is spectacular. Especially with the ability to open up the engine doors and see the old prime mover. Makes for doing screenshots with even more interesting details.

This model is stunning for several reasons! Firstly, CP Rail 534 was a one-off locomotive, making this asset a unique model in Jointed Rail’s catalogue. It was built by EMD in 08/1952 as MILW SD7 #509. After a wreck in 1974, it was rebuilt into MILW SD10, and it retained the number 534 through its days on the MILW, SOO, and CPR. After being sold to NREX in 09/2004, it was unfortunately scrapped alongside SOO SD10 543, a fate that all of NREX’s SD7/9/10 units endured. The mere existence of this model on Jointed Rail’s website inspired me to research the history of this one-of-a-kind locomotive.
Secondly, the detailing is stunning! There’s a lot to be found within the cab, as well as the interactable features on the locomotive itself, especially the doors of the long hood. Finally, I have to commend how weathered, yet majestic the Danks Combo Leslie 3 Chime 3-Part hornsound is. Although this model is a bit pricy, I definitely recommend buying it if you like one-off locomotives such as this! I hope that we’ll get MILW SD10’s in their prime on this site someday, and perhaps even MILW 532 of the Whitewater Valley Railroad of Connersville, IN. A railfan can dream, right?
